First Aid Kit ‘Blue’ Video Release

June 22nd, 2012  |  Published in Rock, Pop & Folk

Vancouver, BC – June 20th – First Aid Kit premiered their gorgeous new video for acclaimed sophomore LP The Lion’s Roar track “Blue” today on their website (www.thisisfirstaidkit.com). The Daniel Wirtberg-directed clip features celebrated Swedish actress Ewa Fröling (perhaps best known from Ingmar Bergman’s Fanny and Alexander), and can also be seen and shared directly below. “Blue” will be released as a single in the US via all major digital retailers on June 26th.

As the band – sisters Klara and Johanna Söderberg – get ready to embark on an eight-date tour supporting Jack White in Europe this Thursday, they’ve announced a handful of additional North American dates for this summer and fall. First Aid Kit will support Conor Oberst on two dates in July – the 26th at Stageone in Fairfield, CT and the 27th at the Jane Pickens Theater in Newport, RI – and will also now headline the Town Ballroom in Buffalo, NY on July 30th. They’ll also perform at an official Lollapalooza Aftershow on August 1st at the Metro in Chicago, IL alongside Alabama Shakes, Dry The River, and Filligar, and are confirmed for the Austin City Limits Festival on October 12th. First Aid Kit’s March/April North American tour saw them playing to sold-out crowds in New York, Washington, DC, Montreal, Toronto, Chicago, Minneapolis, Seattle, Portland, and San Francisco, in addition to performing at Coachella. A full itinerary is below.

Produced by Mike Mogis (Bright Eyes, Monsters Of Folk), The Lion’s Roar, released January 24, 2012 via Wichita Recordings, has sold more than 150,000 copies worldwide in just under five months and has been earning First Aid Kit glowing coverage from the press, including: American Songwriter, The Boston Globe, BUST, Entertainment Weekly (second single “Emmylou” featured on ‘The 12 Best Aingles of 2012…So Far’), Foam, The New York Daily News, The New York Times, NPR, Nylon, Paste, Pitchfork, Relix, Rolling Stone (‘Band To Watch’), Rookie, SPIN, Teen Vogue, Under The Radar, and Village Voice, among others. The album was also featured on Amazon’s ‘Best Albums of 2012 So Far’ list and the band made their US television debut on Conan on April 16th, performing “Emmylou”: http://teamcoco.com/video/32057/first-aid-kit-performs-emmylou.
