This week Passion Pit released Gossamer, its latest pop masterpiece, to a slew of glowing reviews. A week prior the band debuted their new video for “I’ll Be Alright.” (scroll down and view below). Taking a unique approach to creating the video, Passion Pit partnered with Genero.tv to collect submissions through the site. The winning video, directed by Greg Barth premiered on July 17th. Last week, Passion Pit also launched the “Gossamer App.” The application contains interactive content for fans including music, videos, photos and the opportunity to for fans to create their own remixes and music videos.
In addition, Passion Pit released on August 1 their new video for “Constant Conversations”, a sensuous and intriguing production which you can view by scrolling down below. Shot by Dori Oskowitz, the video features actors Peter Bogdanovich (“The Sopranos”), Analeigh Tipton (Crazy, Stupid, Love), Taryn Manning (8 Mile), and Roger Guenveur Smith (Do the Right Thing).
Passion Pit’s mastermind, Michael Angelakos recently commented on the album, saying that to him “Gossamer pushes and pulls like an opera.” Considered to be his “finest work to date” (Consequence of Sound), when preparing to write the album, Angelakos practiced writing and experimenting with his lyrical style. Every day he wrote 1,000 words of poetry and posted it to a blog that he kept secret from everyone he knew. It’s that kind of intense creative process that contributes to the album’s depth.
Passion Pit play Lollapalooza on August 3 and Osheaga Festival in Montreal on August 5. For a full list of Passion Pit tour dates, click here.
